Two Indian-style money changers were attacked by 4 to 5 South Asian thieves while passing through the streets of Hung Hom yesterday, and then snatched their backpacks containing more than 5 million yuan in cash; officers from the police's severe case team have been involved in the investigation.
The two men of Indian descent were both Singh, 22 and 26 years old. They were both employees of a money exchange shop upstairs in Hung Hom District. A 22-year-old man suffered minor injuries to his face and hands during the incident but refused to be sent to hospital.

Sources said that around 12 noon yesterday, the two put about 650,000 US dollars (equivalent to 5.07 million Hong Kong dollars) and 90,000 Hong Kong dollars in cash into their backpacks, ready to be sent to Tsim Sha Tsui. Unexpectedly, as they passed a bank outside 21 Ma Tau Wai Road, they were suddenly flashed by 4 to 5 South Asian thieves, attacked with wooden sticks and fists, and stole the backpack with cash. ; After the thief succeeded, he hopped on a golden private car and fled to Wuhu Street without a trace.
The police rushed to the investigation after receiving the report, and then launched a swift operation to intercept suspicious vehicles on a number of major roads. Unfortunately, no one was found.
